Patrick Johnson, President, National Forwarding Co., Inc.

Pat_Johnson_4-2After being honorably discharged from the US Marine Corps in 1972, Pat worked his way through college and law school receiving a Juris Doctor degree from Northern Illinois University College of Law in 1979. He was NFC’s third full time employee when he was hired as a claims adjuster in 1978. After finishing law school at night, Pat passed the Illinois Bar Exam in 1980, and was ready to pursue a career in law when the company asked him to lead NFC when the previous general manager left to start his own company.

With his over 35 years at NFC, Pat has carefully overseen the assembly of a team of professionals who have successfully navigated major changes in the DOD Personal Property Program and built National Forwarding Co. Inc. from a small startup to one of the largest participants in the DOD Personal Property Program.

Eileen Sherman, Vice President, Operations

Eileen_Sherman_8-2Eileen began her career at National Forwarding Co. Inc. as a billing technician in 1981. As the company grew, she gravitated toward Operations and became a dispatcher. In 1987, she was promoted to Operations Manager. Always willing to lend a hand, she became interim Operations Manager of our sister company National Van Lines, Inc., after the previous manager left. After a year at NVL, Eileen came back to NFC and was promoted to Director and now is Vice President. Her responsibilities also extend to our Move Management Department. Under Eileen’s leadership, NFC continued to grow and successfully participated in a series of DOD reengineering projects which culminated in the current program.

Many of the present leaders of NFC worked for and/or were mentored by Eileen. She continues to represent the company at various meetings conducted by the American Moving & Storage Association (AMSA), the International Association of Movers (IAM) and the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC). She has also been one of the principal organizers of the annual “Dispatchers Convention.”

Kevin Spealman, Vice President, Claims & Customer Service

Kevin_Spealman_2-2With a Bachelor’s Degree in education from Illinois State University and a Master’s Degree in Management from National-Lewis University, Kevin is the Vice President, Claims and Customer Service for National Forwarding Co. Inc. He began his career with NFC as a claims adjuster in 1987. Kevin also played a lead role in the establishment of National Claims Services, Inc. in 1991, which he leads as the Vice President and General Manager.

Kevin has been recognized as an industry leader for more than two decades. He has served on and chaired the Claims Committees of the American Moving & Storage Association (AMSA) and the International Association of Movers (IAM) for many years. Kevin’s previous experience as a schoolteacher has served him well as an instructor for AMSA in numerous claims workshops. He has been a key player in Military/Industry panels relating claims issues associated with the DOD Personal Property Program.

Susan Staszewski, Vice President, International Division

Sue_Staszewski_17-2Susan began her career at National Forwarding Co. Inc. as a dispatcher in 1989. In 1995 she was promoted to Operations Manager and then, in 1996, she was promoted to Office Manager where she was responsible for all billing and accounting functions. Susan has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from St. Xavier University which she obtained while working full-time at NFC.

Susan became the manager of the International Division of National Van Lines when NFC assumed responsibility for it in 2000. In 2003, she was promoted to managing director and became Vice President of the International Division in 2011. Under Susan’s careful stewardship and operating as an autonomous unit, the International Division has become a significant profit center of the organization.

Cheryl Garamoni, Vice President, Agency Services

Cheryl_Garamoni_2-2Cheryl Garamoni joined NFC in February of 1995, where she started as a part time billing employee. In the fall of 1995, she became a full time employee of our Operations Department and a few years later was promoted to the Operations Manager. She transitioned to Manager of Agency Services in 2005, and was promoted to Director in 2012. In 2016, she was again promoted to Vice President, Agency Services. Her current duties include agent visits and on-site training of their employees who pack and load military shipments. On a day-to-day basis Cheryl assists agents regarding military warehouse approval, discussing Customer Satisfaction and ways to improve scores.

Cheryl’s diverse departmental background at National makes her a key asset when speaking to agents as she understands their issues and needs. During the peak season Cheryl and her knowledgeable staff support the Operations Department. Cheryl also writes articles regarding current industry topics for our monthly newsletter Moving Forward.

Jill Finnigan, Director, Sales and Operations, International Division

Jill_Finnigan_7-2Jill began her career at National Forwarding Co., Inc. in 1999, as a dispatcher in the Operations Department. In 2001, Jill transferred to the International Division as an international coordinator handling private transferee sales and operations. Jill left NFC for a period of time to work at a large agent in the Chicago area and returned to NFC as the Director of Sales and Operations in 2013.

The knowledge and perspective that Jill gained at the agency level is a tremendous asset in her current role as Director of Sales and Operations. She oversees the daily operations of all lines of business and builds relationships with overseas and domestic agents, national accounts, and government agencies. Jill is a certified Global Mobility Specialist through the Employee Relocation Council and is an active member of the International Association of Movers (IAM).

Michael Wilson, Director, DOD Programs

Michael_Wilson_1-2Michael Wilson is the Director, DOD Programs for National Forwarding Co., Inc. A graduate of Iowa State University’s College of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, he began his career at NFC in January of 2007 as a biller. By June 2008, he was promoted to Billing Manager, and in January 2013, he was promoted to Manager, Billing and Settlement. In January 2015, Michael assumed his current role as Director, DOD Programs in which he is responsible for the organization’s compliance with DOD Program requirements.  In addition he is in charge of the management of agent and hauler performance metrics and the company’s relationship with the DOD Personal Property Directorate.

Michael frequently travels to consult with agents on DOD program requirements. He has also served as an industry panel member for the National Defense Transportation Association Household Goods Subcommittee and he actively participates in association and Industry/Military meetings.
